A VBA-registered inspector assesses your barrier — the fence, gates, latches and surrounds — against the current Victorian safety standard. If everything complies, your certificate is issued on the day. If not, you receive a report with photos showing exactly what needs attention.
Why do I need a certificate of compliance in Victoria?
All pools and spas in Victoria must be registered with the local council and have a valid safety certificate. It confirms the barrier meets state safety standards, which protects children, family and visitors from accidents.
How often does my barrier need re-inspecting?
Once a compliance certificate is issued, a new inspection is required every four years, or sooner if the barrier changes. Regular inspections keep things safe, especially after repairs or renovations.
What happens if the barrier fails?
You’ll receive a clear report explaining what needs to be repaired. Once you’ve made the fixes, we return to re-inspect at no extra cost within 60 days of the first visit, and issue the certificate when it passes.
Do I need a licensed inspector for a valid certificate?
Yes. Only a registered pool inspector can legally carry out a compliance inspection and issue a valid certificate. Self-assessments or inspections by unregistered providers don’t meet Victorian requirements.
